Introduction
Province Public Health Laboratory is a laboratory under the Ministry of Social Development under the Provincial Government Karnali Province. This laboratory maintains relations and coordination with government laboratories and various other laboratories within Karnali province. Karnali with the aim of making the laboratory more orderly and quality by making the process of granting health laboratory service permit simple, easy, orderly and effective, the criteria to be followed while operating the service of the laboratories based on the health institutions established at the cooperative level and the laboratories established to provide only laboratory services.Provincial public health laboratory has been established under this provincial public health laboratory, the following four types of branches work as mentioned below
Non-Communicable Diseases Laboratory Branch
Provide necessary support for the creation of necessary laws, policies and standards at the state level related to non-communicable disease laboratories.
Conducting activities related to non-communicable disease laboratory guidelines, protocols and standards and quality determination.
To carry out work related to referral laboratory for diabetes, kidney, liver, heart and other environmental allergies (related to immunology etc.) diseases.
Conducting research activities related to laboratory testing of non-communicable diseases and providing research results to laboratories operating throughout the province.
To carry out activities related to the surveillance of non-communicable diseases as well as coordinate the results of surveillance within the province as needed.
Infectious Disease Laboratory Branch
Provide necessary support for the creation of necessary laws, policies and standards at the provincial level related to infectious disease laboratories.
Conducting activities related to infectious disease laboratory guidelines, protocols, standards and quality determination.
(parasitic malaria, kala-azar, elephantiasis, etc.) to run a referral laboratory.
T.B. To conduct related dispatch laboratory.
Conducting research activities related to infectious diseases and distributing research results.
An Epidemic Prevention Committee will be formed for the prevention and control of all relevant branches/sub-branches and the epidemiologist will coordinate the said committee.
Quality Control and Training Branch
Collecting the test results of the samples sent from the provincial laboratories for quality control, analyzing them and providing necessary documentation.
On-site visit of provincial laboratories involved in quality control work and physical inspection of service quality related work.
To provide training to laboratory workers (ToT) of provincial laboratories and provide necessary support for the operation of laboratory services.
Facilitating the need to get accreditation from organizations like World Health Organization and ISO in provincial laboratories.
Send the prepared quality control samples to the laboratories under the provincial laboratory.
Finance and Administration Branch
To do work related to attendance and leave management of laboratory employees.
Updating the personal details of the laboratory staff.
Doing work related to registration, invoicing within the laboratory.
Doing other administrative tasks related to laboratory work.
Internal audit of the laboratory.
